We’re starting to get excited for Christmas Eve night. We hope that Santa is good to you and your pets!
387 Vets and The West Midlands Cat Clinic will be closed for Christmas from after lunch today (24th December) until 8.30am on Saturday 27th December. If you have a pet emergency while the practice is closed, please continue to call us on 01922 411755 and follow the answer machine instructions.
For non-urgent pet queries, or if you’re not sure if or how urgently your pet needs to see a vet, don’t forget that all 387 Vets and West Midlands Cat Clinic clients have complimentary access to VidiVet, a vet-led pet triaging service available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Check communications from the practice for information on how to access.
Wishing you and your pet family a very happy Christmas from us all!

Every December we run a ‘Give a Pet a Christmas Dinner’ campaign to support dogs and cats in local shelters waiting for their forever homes. We collect wet and dry food and treats, but also welcome pet accessories to provide homeless pets with a little extra festive love. Accessories can include collars, leads, toys, blankets, bedding, bowls – pretty much anything you think would be useful for feline and canine wellbeing and care. We collect throughout the month and donations are then distributed to Birmingham Dogs Home (Coven branch) and various local cat charities early in the new year.
Our collection bins are all set up and ready to receive in our 387 and West Midlands Cat Clinic waiting rooms! If you’d like to donate, we’d be incredibly grateful and we know pets in shelter – and the charities themselves – will be incredibly grateful too.

It was an exciting night at Excel London last night as people from across the UK veterinary industry gathered for the 26th annual Petplan Awards. A black tie event, guests arrived to a champagne reception and music from a live band before moving through to a three course dinner, the awards presentations and further evening entertainment. Comedian Josh Widdicome was our compere for the night!
There were five awards, and our Lead Receptionist Angie was runner up on the night in the Support Staff of the Year category. To be one of only three chosen finalists for this award from across the whole of the UK is spectacular, especially considering an immense 41, 693 nominations were submitted for this year’s Petplan Awards! Fantastic and very well deserved recognition, Angie. We’re really proud of you!

We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed today for our Lead Receptionist Angie as she heads to London as a finalist in this year’s prestigious Petplan Awards. Now in their 26th year, the awards are designed to highlight the great work that goes on in practices across the UK on a daily basis to keep pets healthy and owners happy.
Each year, clients and vet staff are invited to submit nominations for teams and individuals they feel deserve special recognition. This year Petplan received over 41,000 submissions across their five award categories! A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and for your own individual practice champions!
Finalists are selected by a panel of judges, and Angie is one of three shortlisted candidates in Petplan’s Support Staff of the Year category. A fantastic and very well deserved achievement. Winners will be announced at a glamorous black tie gala dinner tonight. We’re super excited for you Angie, and can’t wait to hear how you get on!

Our Registered Veterinary Nurse Paige was a VIP at the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Congress dinner on Saturday night. Paige was given complimentary tickets as one of the shortlisted finalists in the Hills Pet Nutrition Support Nurse of the Year Awards. Results were announced at the dinner, and we were very excited to see the video of Paige being called up on stage to receive the Senior Support Nurse of the Year Runner Up trophy. We’re so proud of you!
Paige is incredibly passionate about improving senior pet quality of life. In the last 12 months, she has completed a canine mobility certificate, has launched new canine mobility clinics in practice and has completed the Veterinary Osteoarthritis Alliance (VOA) Blue Paw Award, which means Paige is officially recognised by the VOA as having sufficient knowledge to improve osteoarthritis care in veterinary practice. Marrying this knowledge with optimum weight and nutrition management strategy helps with pain relief, increased mobility and in giving senior pets a new lease and love of life.
If your senior pet is struggling with their mobility, you know where to come!
