We’re delighted to welcome Amy Hardy who joined the 387 team as a new student nurse just last week. Amy is no stranger to the veterinary industry. Her previous job was working for five years as a veterinary receptionist in small animal practice in the West Midlands. Great with client care, Amy also loved meeting everyone’s pets and, looking to expand her skills portfolio, was keen to move into nursing, helping and observing the nursing team as much as she could. Amy’s passion and determination to become a veterinary nurse was clear at her interview for our student nurse vacancy and she’s already doing a brilliant job on wards. She’ll soon be starting to help on reception on Saturdays and at other times as needed, so do say hello when you’re next in!

We always recommend pets bring a little day bag to include a blanket from home and a favourite teddy for some familiarity when they come in to stay. Last week, our Registered Veterinary Nurse Rachael and our vet Emma attended the International Cat Care’s World Feline Congress at the International Convention Centre in Cardiff. The annual event brings together clinicians from across the globe for three days of world class feline learning from a host of international speakers. Topics this year included gastrointestinal disease, cardiology and respiratory disease. As well as attending lectures on improving cats’ physical and emotional care, congress gives practitioners the chance to meet and chat with a wide range of exhibitors and to network with like-minded attendees. The Rabbit Awareness Action Group brings together the expertise of RAW partners to help continue to raise awareness around rabbit welfare and improve the lives of rabbits. Led by Burgess Pet Care, the RAAG comprises the RSPCA, Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF), Blue Cross, Wood Green The Animals Charity and Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare. Collectively holding an impressive bank of rabbit knowledge and expertise, who better to advise and raise awareness around rabbits’ five welfare needs: behaviour, companionship, diet, environment and health.
