The Petplan Awards have been running for 26 years and are designed to recognise the hard work and dedication shown by vet teams and individuals in the veterinary industry.
If you feel 387 Veterinary Centre or a specific team member deserves to be recognised, we’d love your support and for you to tell the judges why we deserve to win! You can nominate in more than one category – there are five in total – and all nominations remain anonymous. Online nominations close on 12th September.

We had a fab time at Chez Fest on Saturday and loved meeting everyone and saying hi to any four legged friends attending! A big thank you to those of you who entered our competition to guess how many tapeworm segments were in the jar. We used grains of rice to represent tapeworm as if an animal has the parasite, you’re likely to see rice-like deposits around their bottom and in their poo. These are actually segments of tapeworm that have broken off. And they are alive! Ugh!
All ‘tapeworm segments’ have now been counted and we can reveal that the grand total in one very small jar was an incredible 2,725! Competition winners have been notified.
With summer being peak parasite season, it’s a great reason to check your pet’s parasite prevention treatments are up to date. Do ask us which treatment is best for your pet’s lifestyle to prevent against unwelcome visitors!

We’re very excited about this coming Saturday as 387 Vets & The West Midlands Cat Clinic will once again be hosting a stand at ChezFest. Run by the Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay running club and now in its second year, the family-friendly event held at the park off Rosemary Road is designed to promote health and wellbeing. There will be lots of activities to get involved in, a host of stands where local businesses will be sharing their expertise and knowledge and a delicious variety of refreshment stalls. ChezFest officially opens at 11am.
We’re flying the flag for pet health and wellbeing so please do come and say hello! There will be treats for any canine companions visiting the stand, and enter our free entry on-stand competition to be in with a chance of winning a gorgeous batch of pet goodies! We hope to see you there!

Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW) is celebrated annually in order to promote the health and welfare of pet rabbits and to raise awareness about the unique needs of one of the UK’s favourite pets.
RAW runs from 23rd – 27th June and the focus for 2025 is ‘Happy Hoppy Homes.’ Did you know that rabbit homes should have a minimum footprint of 3m x 2m so that bunnies can hop and run, and that they should be 1m in height so they fully stretch upright without their ears touching the roof.
Introducing different levels in a bunny home is great for enrichment and for separating feeding, resting and exercise spaces. Get creative with tunnels to maximise bunny fun! And don’t forget lots of fresh straw bedding so bunnies can snuggle and keep cosy.
Rabbits love to play, and toys enable them to exhibit natural behaviours like digging, jumping and chewing. You can stuff cardboard tubes with hay and healthy treats as engagement activity, provide a digging box filled with shredded paper and include wickers toys that rabbits can toss and chew. Remember to include plenty of hiding places, which could even be cardboard boxes which rabbits can chew too!
Rabbits are sociable soles and are happiest with another rabbit companion, but make sure they are neutered! Ask us for tips on introducing a new friend to your rabbit’s home as this needs to be carefully managed for optimum results.

Yesterday, Our Practice Manager Rachel and Lead Receptionist Angie braved the London heat to attend the Vet Help Direct Best UK Vets Awards for 2025. Held at the Thames Rowing Club in Putney, the glamorous lunch event recognised UK practices shortlisted for an award for the greatest number of positive pet owner testimonials posted on the Vet Help Direct platform over the past 12 months.
We’ve placed a real focus on collecting testimonials for our interconnecting West Midlands Cat Clinic this year to help promote our cat-only veterinary facility. We’re the only one locally, and being cat only makes a huge difference to the wellbeing of feline visitors. We’re keen to spread the word.
