It was an exciting night at Excel London last night as people from across the UK veterinary industry gathered for the 26th annual Petplan Awards. A black tie event, guests arrived to a champagne reception and music from a live band before moving through to a three course dinner, the awards presentations and further evening entertainment. Comedian Josh Widdicome was our compere for the night!
There were five awards, and our Lead Receptionist Angie was runner up on the night in the Support Staff of the Year category. To be one of only three chosen finalists for this award from across the whole of the UK is spectacular, especially considering an immense 41, 693 nominations were submitted for this year’s Petplan Awards! Fantastic and very well deserved recognition, Angie. We’re really proud of you!

We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed today for our Lead Receptionist Angie as she heads to London as a finalist in this year’s prestigious Petplan Awards. Now in their 26th year, the awards are designed to highlight the great work that goes on in practices across the UK on a daily basis to keep pets healthy and owners happy.
Each year, clients and vet staff are invited to submit nominations for teams and individuals they feel deserve special recognition. This year Petplan received over 41,000 submissions across their five award categories! A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and for your own individual practice champions!
Finalists are selected by a panel of judges, and Angie is one of three shortlisted candidates in Petplan’s Support Staff of the Year category. A fantastic and very well deserved achievement. Winners will be announced at a glamorous black tie gala dinner tonight. We’re super excited for you Angie, and can’t wait to hear how you get on!

Using positive familiarisation and reinforcement techniques, we help anxious pooches get used to routine sights, sounds and smells in practice. This includes introducing dogs to equipment commonly use in the consulting room. Your dog will receive lots of encouragement, positive interaction and treats too! Each Happier Vet Visit is tailored to the needs of the individual pet. We always take things at their pace. The aim is to remove the sense of the new and unfamiliar and to forge positive associations with coming to see us to improve pet wellbeing in practice. The clinics are also a great resource for owners looking to build their own confidence around bringing their dog to the vets.

We love seeing what inpatients bring with them when they come on ward for the day! Sending your pet in with a little day bag to include a favourite blanket and a teddy or toy, together with a portion of the pet food they normally eat at home, all helps provide familiarity and comfort to furry visitors as the unfamiliar can feel a little daunting. It’s literally bringing in a little bit of home to help with emotional wellbeing and minimise stress.
This is very happy and beautifully bouncy black lab retriever Eddie who was in for an abdominal scan recently with his teddy. The eagle-eyed amongst us think teddy might be Doodles, the dog from CBBC’s The Tweenies. The pair were inseparable to the point where Eddie carried teddy with him wherever he went! Totally adorable best friends!
